Summertime

Gee, it's hot and humid here in Ohio. I wonder where the humidity is coming from since the fields are dry and the river is low?

More screeching bears on Bubblevision. Why do they put on commentators to comment on structured securities who show by their statements they don't understand the structure of the securities? hehehehe ... I was being a bit poetic, eh? ;-)

The Fed meeting today is important. I'd like to see some relaxing on the inflation risk perception in the statement - a recognition of the favorable downtrend in core inflation.

ORCL had good earnings and revenue growth. The Alpha Fund has a good position there - thank you Mern. In May 2006 Mern pointed that stock out as as having good long term prospects. I now have a fine long term gain and am holding for at least $25. :-))

  1. If flipped my position in BX and am now short ( 30.80). I am a big fan of steve shwartzmann ( even though he is an ardent republican) but the stock is not acting well and now below it's ipo price. I think it will fall further.

  2. That IPO was grossly overpriced. Wasn't the PE about 18x? It's not worth more than 10x.

  3. Does schwartzmann fit the definition of 'beefer' in your world B'man?

  5. Oh he's defintiely a breed of beefer. But not the common beefer breed I mostly rant about.

  6. Don't really know re corn & wheat, Bud. It's harder for me to follow those on my borrowed laptop (it's Mrs. B's). The Bubblevision tape looked like they were mostly unch or down a little.

  9. • For first time, majority think homosexuality is unchangeable
    • In 1977, 13 percent of poll respondents said gays were born that way
    • 39 percent in latest poll say people are born gay

rofl only 61% to go. i can spot a homo by the age of 8. gay men have flames shooting out of thier heads before 13. i seriously dont understand anyone who thinx its a choice. being gay is so gross, nasty and whatever it cant be a choice.

now women r a different story. in my mind, all women r a few drinks, and a couple of laffs away from a 3 way. but im just being optimistic

  12. FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. -- Pro wrestler Chris Benoit strangled his wife, suffocated his 7-year-old son and placed a Bible next to their bodies before hanging himself with the pulley of a weight machine, authorities said Tuesday.

Investigators found prescription anabolic steroids in the house and want to know whether the muscle man nicknamed "The Canadian Crippler" was unhinged by the bodybuilding drugs, which can cause paranoia, depression and explosive outbursts known as "roid rage."

In an interview with ESPN.com on Tuesday, Ballard indicated that the boy had needle marks in his arms. The district attorney said he believed that the boy had been given growth hormones for some time because the family considered him undersized.

  14. Hmm. Fed meeting is a two day meeting 27 & 28. I hadn't checked their site & figured it was the usual one day Wednesday meeting. Another day to drift.

Going for a drive in the county.

  20. back from the county. I saw a lot of short corn crops and more soybeans than I expected.

Very few fields really looked good. many fair and quite a few poor.

This is just one little county in Ohio on the eastern edge of teh cornbelt.

I think thne corn plantings were delayed by spring rain and more soybeans went in than planned. And the late corn is in trouble.

The best fields went in first and those are the ones that looked OK - about waist high.

Many fields are calf high. Some knee high. Some fields looked sparse. Some soybeans fields need rain here. The rivers are low.

  21. By the way, I grew up out here and have visited this time of year for many years. And we always drove around the county. So I'm giving you my impressions gauged off my memories. The quality of the corn crop was always a family discussion. And I remember all those fields from the drives.

But it's still one little county in a huge cornbelt stretching to Iowa

  26. EMU...sweet Frosty..pfffttt...we dont pay up..

a round of beers for the guys and an AAPLtini for Bub

  27. Health care has opposing forces: more and more older people - like me :-( and then Hillary and Obama will socialize it and take all the profits out. Not for me.

I prefer situations with a correlation of forces.

beefers - well, Frosty, they need a pay day for H2 or Q3. So anything is possible.

Remember the elephants at the drying waterhole metaphor? That's whats going on now. Beefers seeking a new source of fees - a new, full waterhole.

I think the old faves to rule all year. oils, metals, select tech.

  29. Hmm I see corn dropped big. It must be raining somewhere in Iowa or a new forecast came out. Tough being out of the turret with positions. :-((

USDA report on Friday will be important. Holding for mid July weather (that's decisive for corn) and USDA.
