Survey Scams

Corporations and businesses are now using phone surveys as scams to obtain marketing material and information on consumers. Corruption is simply going too far. Businesses hire a not-for-profit firm to conduct "market research"; they use a not-for-profit because those are exempt from "Do Not Call" rules. The firm calls you and perhaps you feel that you'd like to help them out, so agree to respond.

The questions are innocent at first - perhaps they want your opinion about types of hospitals, etc., or about or health care industry. Then they want to ask personal information and "guarantee" this will be used for statistics only. They ask about income, zip code and then ask you for your street. Huh ? How could that be used for statistics. Obviously they are lying. Since you probably don't remember what their name is, you can't even complain.

Yesterday after I refused to reply the the "Street name" question, the questioner ask my street number! They simply wanted my address - probably to give to the marketing firm who hired them. I had agreed to the survey since they had called several times and thought I'd help them out on a "survey" about health care.

All this is a scam - a lie. Don't fall for it! From now on, I will stop responding to ANY poll or survey.

I'm really tired of lying and dishonesty in business; the use of euphemisms to cover up dishonest practices. Excuses.

Today's online WSJ writes about a law firm in FL that routinely lied on foreclosure papers, forging notarizations, backdating documents and even lying about serving them. This guy should disbarred and put into jail.

Actions

I checked the Krypto Fund today for asset allocations: none.

"my global purchasing power is shrinking"

Haven't noticed that yet.

So many countries peg to the dollar - they are the ones suffering, and who should suffer. They all should let their currencies rise a LOT to let their people have a higher standard of living, and they should buy US stuff.

Dollar vs. euro is not a record. The yen is, but that's their problem.

when I was in Europe (Amsterdam), I did not notice prices much different than NYC-Boston.

The problem is China & Asia. Those places for decades have undervalued currentices.

looool I do what I can Bunk..

Bunkerman said...

"We present today's thoughts by Art Cashin on the coming hyperinflation "

uh ... I read the article - it did NOT tell about the "coming" hyperinflation, but about one that occurred in post WW I Germany in the 1920s.

I know about that one.

Gosh, the US doesn't even print $1,000 or $500 bills anymore (I wish they did).

So what is the connection?

Where is treh infaltion ... or even the hyperinflation?

All that Fed QE1 is sitting in the banks. Maybe some of QE2 money will go into the commercial system, which would be good.

The Fed can withdraw that money so far your head will spin if inflation got high.

Where are the wage increases that come - lead - inflation?

where is teh RE price increases?

Where are prices increases for anything EXCEPT government?

All these pundits whould read Emerson's famous essay, The American Scholar" where he says to get out of the ivory tower & books & theory and find some REAL FACTS.

And yes, I am now reading that essay ... odd how fitting it is, about 175 years later.

my typing really sucks when I go fast.

"so far" = "so fast"

pffttt try this

http://www.greenfaucet.com/node/19499

Bunkerman said...

that's what I read, spin. llmost all it describes is the German hyperinflation.

Nothing about here and now and why such will occur here and now.

Bud said...

just because the sky is clear today doesn't mean a catastrophe isn't coming

pearl harbor was very beautiful on dec6, 1941

Spin-em said...

Dont read my pundit Patrick read Bunks Emerson the pundit..lol

Bunkerman said...

a rather limp metaphor, Bud.

weather & Jap militarists don't connect.

There were lots of signs of a Jap attack - just not specifically at Pearl.

Bunkerman said...

an alert had even been ordered.

Spin-em said...

looool I even have to give azzhead a chuckle on that one....

WE... ARE THE WORLD.....

Bunkerman said...

look, guys ... IF ANYONE truly thinks a hyperinflation is coming, they should be borrowing everything they can at long term fixed rates and buying everythign in sight.

Which pundit is doing that?

All the big mouths aren't putting their money where their mouths are.

I disagree and recently bought a lot of US stocks.

Sold gold, TIPs, emnerging markets, etc.

have cash ready to buy more on a big dip.

Bunkerman if "jim" says inflation is coming, then its coming.....I heard he bought 435 more tv's for his house...

Bunkerman said...

"Jim" - whoever that is - knows almost nothing outside of his "trade"

Spin-em said...

uh.....we wouldnt even know each other without "jim"...this blog wouldnt exist without "jim"...What Emerson say about that???lol

Bunkerman said...

hmmm ... the first part is true, but the second, nope.

I'd probably have started it anyway.

Bunkerman said...

re "hyperinflation" let me know when the government starts TRULY printing money to pay its bills in CASH.

That is a precondition to hyperinflation.

All this metaphorical "printing money" is going into the banking system as reserves which can be withdrawn in a split second by the Fed.

Cash cannot be withdrawn quickly.

Spin-em said...

"probably"..pffttt...sorry Bunk that's theory..I deal in REAL FACTS..

mfl59 said...

Bunkerman do you really believe it is all that simple? "Oh, they can just withdraw the $ when the see inflation"

Come on sir...QE isnt creating jobs sir...its not allowing people to refinance...its simply buying time....buying time for a recovery that the Fed thinks is coming...

Dont you know that NYC will look like Detroit within 3 years?

Spin-em said...

Mikey if ur out there...sorry about ur Texans..lol

Spin-em said...

When will the people rise up like Hawkeye Pierce after eating a river of liver and an ocean of fish???...WE WANT SOMETHING ELSE!!....WE WANT SOMETHING ELSE!!!

Bunkerman said...

If they can create the bank reserves in a few months, they can withdraw them in a few months.

Bunkerman said...

countries griping about strong currency should just use the $ to buy US stuff.

Otherwise, tough $%^#.

They should encourage their people to buy US stuff - like Americans buy foreign stuff when our currency is strong & we are prosperous.

Visit America!!!

Bunkerman said...

Yes, I know how to take the side of Americans.

What advice would you give to the common man right now Bunkerman, re education, jobs, investing....?

Bunkerman said...

investing: follow Krypto.

education: get an engineering-hard science degree; or a business+law combo; learn a couple foreign languages.

jobs: too broad a question - specifics, please?

Bud said...

The Federal Reserve is about to try to pump up stock and bond markets, depress the value of the U.S. dollar and generate a whiff of inflation.

That's not how Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke will describe it Friday when he elaborates on his latest plan for resuscitating the U.S. economy. But that's what happens when the Fed turns up its electronic printing presses, creates money and buys hundreds of billions in U.S. Treasury debt, as it is poised to do. That's how "quantitative easing," or QE, works.

david wessel today in wsj

great plan Ben...........F'ng disgusting
