A rally attempt is in progress - today is day 3. We await a "Sign" that the elephants are moving out to a new waterhole and have finished stomping in the mud at the old hole. A big jump in the major indices on higher volume on Day 4 or later is the "Sign".
Until then, if you are trader stand aside or just hit a few singles. When we get the sign, climb onto the backs of those elephants and ride the trend. For long term investors, you know what I think. Energies, miners, big fins, select Internet related tech are where I think I'll get my 30% feeding for 2008.
The confirmation day might not come until the FOMC meeting on December 11.
Hmmm ... on that day I'll be in Vegas on the craps & blackjack tables and eating fine food. When I was traveling on the date of the September Fed meeting we got good news. Is this an omen ?
Be patient, buy good stocks on dips.

give me the yo, all the hard ways, and of course the don't pass line :)
Good advice for the trader type Bunkerman, hell of a call ie GOLD MIST.
uh frosty ... yo and hard ways bettors die broke real fast ;-)
pass line or don't pass with full free odds, and perhaps the 6 or 8 place bets let one live longer :-)
Q3 GDP was 4.9% - good number.
GDP price index was ... 1.6% in Q3 down from 3.8% in Q2. Good number.
Core price index was +1.7% vs 1.5% in Q2 - in the comfort zone.
Q3 exports up 18.9% - very good.
More bad news for bears.
Bunkerman...time to put a litte nat gas on the sheets...sounds like the common man will be able to heat his home this winter based on this mornings data.
When I was trading bigtime I always made most of my money on getting onto the trend with big money for many weeks or months. But others are good at the daily or week trades.
I stick with the nat gas stocks: CHK. COP has big nat gas exposure, too, as does DVN. At some point we will get a cold winter or hot summer to suck up all this excess inventory and then prices will move to a new plateau, likely around $10. But when is unpredictable.
Owning the companies with gas in the ground is the only way to play that long term position.
lolol MSFT just can't sell a product that works out of the box. How incompetent !
[re xbox story, some games]
hmmm ... thinking whether I should use helmets out of my war-fighting inventory or buy some more ?
I'd hate to get caught short if things get rough ;-)
I guess I'll get more to prepare.
Preparedness is a critical skill ;-)
I ordered new USGI steel helmets with liner, chinstrap & camo cover. Now to figure out how to put DOW 15,000 on them. after that we wait.
Bunkerman...I wear 7 3/8, a rather large dome...not a comment on the ratio of grey matter rather the thickness of the skull...speaking of being prepared, prior to your vegas trip invest a few hours playing your favorite games on the pc...it will sharpen your skills prior to tossing those live action black chips.
I play a disciplined game of craps so little practrice is necessary.
And for the blackjack, the Venetian lets me use a little plastic pocket card with a "perfect" game play, so no problem there either.
I figure I give up about 1% on average, maybe less. So I can survive the time there.
Hehe, yes frosty, black is best, greeen is for round odds and yellow is for color me out :-))
uh ... frosty - the WW II steel helmets are one size fits all. The liner & chinstrap take up the slack.
it can be used for a cooking pot and seat, too.
Bunkerman...it can be used to make a fine fruit jack wine,,,my dad was a wwII cb..while on board ship they would use the helmet as a still, using what ever fruit they could find and melt down the hard candy in the uso care packages...good times.
lol frosty. good story !
One of my grandfathers was a WW II CB, too. He had been in the Army twice [1918-19 and 1939-1941], then joined the NAVY in CB in 1942 for duration. I have a photo of him on Emirau Island in his steel pot with his .45 holster.
the greatest generation indeed.
yes, definitely.
greatest generation? is that the same generation that used to treat its black citizens ( fellow americans) like farm animals ?........seperate restrooms, can't live here, can't work here, no right to vote? call them 'boy' and'nigger'
yeah...that sure sounds like a 'greatest generation'
lmaoooooooooooo
many members of this so'called greatest generation' refused to serve with blacks during ww2
cracks me up everytime i hear how great these people were......they were a bunch of racist bigot pigs
lol Bud ... nothing like painting everyone with the same brush.
well.........at least the majority was racist......it's not like blacks were given rights as equal citizens by whites out of some feeling of unfairness
they had to earn them thru the 60s (violent) civil rights movements which was fiercely resisted by southerners
uh Bud...greatest, not perfect.
wellllll look what the black cat dragged in.....how bout a song Bud...loool
Rodney King Shot, Wounded Near Home
King, 42, was shot two or three times from a distance by birdshot fired from a shotgun. He then bicycled about 1½ miles back to his home in neighboring Rialto and called police. King was hit in the face, arms, back and torso, police said.
Authorities said when they arrived at the home, King and others appeared drunk and were largely uncooperative in providing information about the shooting.
