Waiting ...

I suppose the markets will slide down in low volume until the Fed rate announcement on Wednesday. Why should any real buyer step up and buy cheap stocks until assured the Fed won't betray them again ? I'm doing nothing and waiting, but I already have large positions that I think are very, very cheap and have solid value and will do well this year and next. If you didn't buy the collapse last week, there is no reason to buy now.

US voters seem to want a clear change. Obama crushed Hillary in South Carolina, and his favorable press from that win might give him enough publicity in the big states to get undecided voters into his camp. He actually has more real experience than Hillary in governing, as she merely has seven years as a Senator. Before that, she might have been watching hubby Bill, or not. It's a secret, you see. Doesn't that make one wonder ? Whenever the Clintons keep a secret, it has meant something negative was hidden. Don't assume anything good is being kept secret by them.

McCain looks like he is gaining more support and he does represent change, too. Some bigmouths like Limbaugh say that a McCain nomination would tear the republican party apart. What a fool ! George W. Bush has done that with his wild, drunken sailor spending and his LBJ-like war strategy. So McCain as an honest man with a good record opposing spending and a now proven correct war strategy looks like a real leader. Hmmm ... my rich man's vote for him last summer is looking like a winner.

Romney is honest and quite smart, but this election season just is not good for a business style leader.

Asia and Europe are down. Beefers dominate those markets, too. I suppose this might be a good things, as it should kill the talk that the slide last Monday was all due to Societie General's selling. Pay attention to what you know and facts, not the fears. The press is fanning the flames of fear, but seem to have only pundit opinions and fears backing that talk.

yes sir bman, "the clintons" really killed themselves, and its fun to watch.

right now biliary r digging a 6 foot hole and throwing a pillow into it.

obama vs mccain is what i wud like to see. id probably vote for mccain.

was reading a new book this weekend. according to the author 70% of americans live pay check to pay check. if that # is accurate, it just shows how messed up our beliefs r in this country.

need some education on life insurance, while i mull this job offer.

had a 6 hr interview on friday and i sat in on a "financial plan" with a client of the firm.

she is mid 30's married, two kids. she makes 80, he makes 60k. they have no savings, 30k in credit card debt and were trying to get another 15k on thier 2nd mortgage. so they make 140k a yr and dont save anything. basically both parents impulse buy for thier kids and themselves, ie they r idiots.

also saw on cnn 33% of kids leaving in dc live below the poverty level which is up sharply this decade. then they showed a dude with 3 kids living off 600 bucks a month.

cant wait to hear the lies and spins from dubya tonite. wonder if cheney will show up, or if he is really dead? havent seen him in months

die Biliary die!

they tried to hide it, but u cant get hildog in the white house without bill running part of the show. they blew up this past week, thier chart looks like CFC. its toast! thx god. now huckabee better be next!

if no recession y 75 bips last week, and what is it? 125 or 150 since august?

when they went 75% in 83 what was it at when they did that, 10% or higher?

if we r not going into recession, then all this kool aid is just gonna lite another fire under commodity prices, and that will put the final nail in what is left of middle america.

can i please have a lecture on life insurance? becuase i think everything but term is a scam.

tia

since August we have gotten 175 bps.

August 5.25% looks insanely high now. Fed was too tight too long. They should ahve started cutting in June or sooner when core PCE came down.

Don't know re 1983, but rates were really high then. Vlcker killed the MidWest & US mgft.

For a "rich" person, whole life can be OK. It was better years ago, but now policy loan interest in not deductible. It's just long term tax deferred bond investment. I have a bit from years ago - its' been OK. But intereest rates are so low now, it really doesn't work well except for estate planning where one can get a dual person policy to pay estate taxes on second to pass.

For anyone not rich, term is it. period. There are two types - renewable term with annual payment changes, and a fixed term where the insurnace is set for 5 or 10 years at a fixed rate, nonrenewable. Either type works fine. One can get big amounts really cheap. And one should get a lot when young and healthy.

he also killed inflation and layed the seeds for a 18 yr secular bull market that was helped by the fall of communism.

now fed funds is much lower, and the secular trend for inflation is higher except here in the US where becuase of poor financial planning by individuals and the govt, we have an asset based economy. so its either reflate or deflate. soft landings r not possible. too much financial engineering in the USA..

amazing the $ lost almost half its value in 8 yrs and the trade deficit is still 60 bil a month.

i guess that whole idea that owning iraq wud bring down the price of oil from ultra high prices of high 40's, was sorta antiquated.

other than some of the tax cuts, is there anything bush did right?

oops i forgot he banned stem stell research, that was sheer brillance.

a new low on Bubblevision ... Pat Buchanan arghhhhhh!

Bunkerman said...

you need a job, mern, to get her off the pill ;-)

In my opinion, one buys life insurance when you don't need it. Get a million cheap, renewable term. Then when you have 3-5 million, drop it.

Bunkerman said...

oh Bud, surely you know that the beefers can crush any stock for any reason at any time with no uptick rule.

Bud said...

MCD sure seems like a recession proof stock

good numbers

this french trader makes no sense.

Bunkerman said...

MCD quarter as fine - they beat on EPS and revs. 20% yoy growth in earnings.

Frosty said...

Rudy is a team player, a concept that is way over your head Bud.

Pussy LAMOOOO...your my bitch Bud, nothing you say will change that.

Frosty said...

Bunkerman...25 bps is my call for the fed...they will cut, but no 50 bps...their panic last week, as you said, just another fup in a series of wrong headed moves...the trend is your friend, not, when it comes to markets and this fed.

Frosty said...

a little paint ahead of the fed and month end as market nutural funds are down an avg of 8% this month...beefer games indeed, those funds hit liquidation mode next month...the $vix rules the roost, what a great looking chart, next stop 45.

Those march 45 calls can be had at .20 today...doubled since my last post, but room to run with 51 days until they expire...what an opportunity to put on cheap insurance. Last Tuesday they spiked to .80, fyi.

Bud said...

was frosty also a janitor at the Fed?

Frosty said...

Bud...fed janitor my dream job...I often dream of mopping the floor with you.

Frosty said...

and no, not because your black.

Bunkerman said...

I think 50 bps, frosty. My thinking is the minimum bid on the TAF was 3.1% for 28 days; the current 30 day LIBOR around 3.24% and the need to get to 3% overnight.

Bud said...

frosty reminds me of kids i used to play with when i was 8 yrs old

throw it 3 feet wide or over my head and call a strike

grow up you little pussy

Frosty said...

sold some gold this PM. I'm going to dribble out about 1/4 of my large holdings over a few weeks as long as gold stays over $900.

I'll take the money & buy whatever sector is most underweight via Vanguard ETFs in my Krypto Fund brokerage account.
