Monday Morning Ramblings

Very little real news occured this weekend. Hillary's campaign lost four more state contests to Obama, as her campaign strategy has crumbled and she is now replacing her campaign manager.

Beefers planted more bearish stories about debt markets, but each was noticeably missing truly negative data. The WSJ article even specifically mentioned that defaults just aren't happening and declines in market values of loans are due to liquidations, not defaults. Apparantly many hedge funds bought loans on leverage - sheesh, what a silly strategy !

Gold and silver are up; copper is firm.

Battleship Ben testifies later this week.

I'll be buying more stocks today to tweak my Krypto Fund percentages to perfection. And selling more gold this week, too.

I chose words beginning with "R" for today's words of the day.
Word #1 - "regnant" adj. [$10]
Regnant means 1. reigning as in the Queen regnant; 2. (of things, qualities, etc.) predominant, prevalent.
Sentence: The Obama revolution has deposed Hillary as regnant Democratic front runner for the presidential nomination.

Word #2 - "reify" verb, transitive [$10]
"Reify" means to mentally convert into a thing; materialize.
Sentence: Can the beefers reify recession from their rampant fearmongering and panic ?

ROFL!

well even though bud is probably starting to see the reality. if he can shed some of the emotion, he shud see that obama is the only one who can beat mccain.

i wonder if he can cancel that check for 250?

well this whole not being high thing just sux, imo. all this energy, but my temper is back too. got my first yellow card on sunday in 15 games, but man did that ref just screw us from minute 1. we still tied 2 to 2.

SNL ran a repeat (of course) where brian williams hosted in late october. man he was funny. also obama was in the opening bit, and he was funny, too.

is it me, or is there tons of new commercials out there for "debt consolidation loans"? maybe it is just a florida thing. at the same time every resturant around me is packed every nite. the malls packed. traffic insane, and people waiting in line to pay 3 bucks and change for gas (which is coming down)

who was the that new cat they interviewed on bubblevision from pimco. looked middle eastern, seemed very smart. he said 1 of 2 things will play.

scenario 1 was what think shud happend. massive recession bordering on depression and the whole system readjusts for risk, etc. IE it get very ugly from here.

scenario 2 was the govt will step in, tweak a few rules (probably go a bit overboard), but in the end, stop the creative destruction process. IE, shallow or no recession, we bottomed late jan, and this is a retest.

personally im leaning towards 2 just becuase there is simply too much at stake to let #1 play out for the boomers.

also read this weekend US exports were up 74% to india in 07, just 16% in china. so that weaker $ thing is working.

the weight is coming off fast, which is gud, because that is where the THC hides. ive lost 12 lbs since i quit da weed. im down to 160. seriously given my frame i shud weigh 145

Bunkerman said...

I see those commercial on CNBC, but since I don't watch much TV, I don't know. Mostly we just watch a movie from Netflix.

Bunkerman said...

that PIMCO guy was El Arian, the guy who took a year off to run the Harvard Endowment.

Bunkerman said...

I think the US will soon have a trade balance except for oil.

mern said...

ya i luv tv, but not so much since quitting da weed.

watched "knocked up". fairly gud.

OH NO HUCKABEE ( saw him jamming on the bass on tv. hey, he can play the bass. maybe he shud stick to that).

"i majored in miracles, not math" LOL, sure sounds like a gud president.

after the game we went to a local bar. music was discussed. a huge judy garland fan told me he thinx this amy whitehouse is as gud as judy. watched some of the grammys mostly beyonce (man she is smoking hot) and tina turner duet. made me lol.

i think ive finally figured out the difference between what i love and what u love. music for me is religion. it is a point of depature. and the music i like (dead, zep, floyd, marley) makes me feel like i am a hood ornament on a freight train.

going into a show, swallowing a bunch of LSD is a full commiment. it is like paddling out into big surf after a hurricane. u cant just go out there and say "oh shit, what i am thinking?" and paddle back in. once u r in the soup, getting back to shore is a long intense journey.

imo, u like to relax to music. i like getting to the point where i get to an out of body experience. hard to explain or understand unless u have gone down the rabbit whole and eaten a lot of LSD.

I AM ENLIGHTENED

lol

oh i saw a house in my complex this weekend that has been for sale for over a yr.

it is small, like 2k feet. started asking 250,its down to 185, and no one lives there any more.

but we just got 2 SBUX's in the last week. the residential building has stopped, but the commercial stuff keeps going up. now i got 3 malls within 5 miles of the house. when i moved here in 2004 all that land was cow pattys

a fine song well sung or even a fine big band song makes me feel good & happy - I really enjoy them. The good music is emotionally uplifting by itself - no visual performance is necessary.

Bunkerman said...

Your area just has all those extra houses from the invesors and the second home types who can afford them anymore - too many houses for the population.

That's a true glut and might take many years to clear..

mern said...

ya i agree on both points. music is about energy not laser and lights. the bands i enjoy feed off the audience it is a circle. there was a reason the dead played better in NYC, philly, red rocks, alpine valley, SF, etc. the more freaks, the more the crowd was into it, the more energy u got from the band.

ya gonna be years for this glut to work itself out. and the state is not making it easier for old farts to retire down here.

65% voted yes on 1 becuase the gov had a commercial that said a yes on 1 wud lower property taxes. of course my initial reaction to the commercial was it is a lie, let me dig. opps, yes on 1 virtually guarantees the property taxes r going much higher. that is unless your local counties govt is balanced. where i live, the local govt is way over budget. so guess who gets nailed? yep, the lemmings who bought the bs of a 30 second commercial instead of looking at the devil in the details

Americans are even now using less plastic, and credit card companies are tightening their belts, too.

The Federal Reserve reports there was $944 billion in total revolving debt out in December. The majority of that amount was from credit cards, which resulted in a seasonally adjusted annualized increase of 2.7 percent.

The seasonally adjusted growth rates were 13.7 percent in November and 11.1 percent in October.

In December, an average of 7.6 percent of credit-card loans were 60 days delinquent or were in default, up from 6.4 percent a year earlier, according to research firm RiskMetrics Group.

how do u think i shud go about finding out what kind of DT, BSC will give me.

i passed a urine test this am. took me 5 days to clean me out.

hair, i shave my head, but can they check your leg or arm hair?

and how long does it take to clear u out if they give a cotton swab in the mouth?

funny that i cud take that test drunk and pilled out and be fine, but a hint of weed, NO JOB.

weed is more benign for the body that coffee, yet it remains illegal?

Bunkerman said...

mern, I remember a urine test - that was long ago, maybe almost 20 years.

Bunkerman said...

wheat has serious weather problems for several years in a row in several countries; plus competition with corn for acreage.

mern said...

ya i passed a urine test today. i failed it on friday, badly.

the one gud thing is ive been trying to shed this 20 lbs i gained two yrs ago when my sciatic blew out.

the more i thought about it, i shud really lose about 30. im about 15 beans gone, 15 to go. i probably havent weighed 145 since college.

i definitely felt lighter on my feet yesterday. basically a mistake free game for me. but i am ready to kill my coach. he is freaking 63. he didnt play until he was 35. he sux, he is coordinated as a duck. so y come in the last 20 minutes and play left fullback.

they look at him, and go right down the left side and scored twice to tie us. 2nd game out of 5 where he did that. and he got a stink from us the first time he did it, so he knows. seriously if u want to play that bad. start, play your 20 minutes and play up front where u cant kill us.

id run my own team, but done that, very stressful, no thx

CHAVEZ he is sorta funny. go ahead stop sending us oil. the country will be in BK by june.

Who let the birds out?
A fowl prank has closed a Philadelphia high school, cancelling classes today for 3,600 students.

Some 50 to 75 "full-blown live chickens" were discovered roaming the halls of Northeast Philadelphia High School this morning as faculty arrived before dawn.

"They've created quite a mess," said Fernando Gallard, spokesman for the school district. "It's going to take us at least a day to clean up."

The cackling hens and roosters were let into the school on Cottman Avenue over the weekend.

Video surveillance shows that multiple culprits gained entry into the school about 9:30 p.m. Sunday to release the chickens and spread chicken feed on the floors, Gallard said.

thats an awesome senior prank, and they got a full day off.

all we did was put like 1000 condoms around the tennis court fences and wrote the class of 89 is pulling out and the class of 90 is cumming. also a few auto geeks, took apart the schools bug, that did stuff at football and soccer game. and then reassembled the car right in front of the principals office so he cud not get in. they all got busted and suspened for 2 weeks and werent allowed to go to graduation

rut oh, kass is bullish.

he was so bearish in 99-mid 01. he was bullish for almost 2 yrs before we really turned.

he is almost always very early

Bunkerman are you looking to add to HDB and IBN at these prices?

Bunkerman said...

no, mfl. That might be smart, but I have a solid position that I plan to keep for years. Ditto IBN. These are really just my proxies for all of India now.

Hmmm chart sucks, too ... almost like a double H&S top.

Bunkerman said...

interesting how well market is holding up on that AIG news. Two week ago that would have knocked it down 400 pts.

Frosty said...

Bunkerman...they sure feel like they are going to attempt to make a stand...could be just another oversold rally, but you are right, given AIG, not bad at all sir.

Bunkerman said...

maybe some real buyers got some liquid courage ?

mern said...

impressive 200 pt bounce off the lows.

we close in here, another pt for the bulls that the day after MLK (our greatest holiday, imo) was da low.

really bad news, and the sellers cudnt press it.

my biggest concern is kass being bullish

mern said...

on the other hand revy is bearish

mfl59 said...

Thanks Bunkerman...i bot some IIF for a trade....its testing the low from post MLK day...we'll see how it plays out sir...
