I'm driving to SE Ohio tomorrow on family business and will be in my home town for a couple of weeks, approximately. I won't be able to post a "Word of the Day" since I'll be away from my normal reading material and dictionaries.
Unless I have Internet problems, which have happened before, I should be able to post a blog daily.
I haven't seen much news up to now for the weekend. Barron's data shows the monetary base is up a bit ... finally ... but is still up only 1.5% year over year - not enough. The Fed needs to push more money into the system.
I'm doubling up on that dog of a stock, WB, on Monday. That stock was definitely my biggest mistake these past few months and really hurts. Ugh ! This is just a tax play, so I can take a short term loss in 31 days to offset more of my gold & silver profits. When (! yes "when" ! I am optimistic !) WB rebounds, the gains will be long term as much lower tax rates.
This being a triple witching week with expirations on Friday, enjoy the ping pong. It will probably be a killer game.

- I have a pioneer mentality. My wife & I live in the woods - neighbors aren't visible except slightly in winter. Our "bunker" - hehe, really a fine home & barn - has plenty of security. We have four dogs: Krypto (age 9, Kelpie), Ava (age 13, Rat Terrier), Sky (Kelpie, age 5) and Lucky Star (age 1, kelpie). I don't take crap from anyone anymore, having enough resources & gear stocked up to survive in any circumstance. I have three degrees from Harvard including a Ph. D. in a physical science, and an MS in Management from MIT. I worked as an investment banker for about 25 years, mainly in secured finance, at three major Wall Street firms and for the last 17 years with my partners at our own firm. I'm semi-retired now, managing some private corporations and business interests and doing my own trading & investing. This is not to boast, but to give you an idea I know a little about some subjects from experience. The photo is my 1943 M16 half-track which I am restoring. These armored vehicles were ubiquitous in the US Army in World War II and Korea. It's driveable.

i said on friday the lakers had a slim chance to win in it in 7. well after 3 ugly hours last nite, slim left town.

id say they need to shorten the regular season to 75 games and cut the preseason down to 2 weeks. so these teams have something in the tank come mid june.

friend had baby a month early.
wife went into labor, the kid came out in 90 minutes. wife went home in 2 days. kid had to be in ICU for about 14 days.

inflation contained. more like JACKED UP BEYOND RECOGNITION!
i thought gas and food were bad. that is nothing.
note to self, stay healty, stay under 155 lbs. eat more fish!
oh and he had a kid 2 yrs ago with virtually the same circumstance.
what was ALARMING was the out of pocket deductible.
and the 40% increase in the total bill of 45 grand.
his costs more than doubled while in 2 yrs the same services were about less than 30k.
i doubt this is a florida thing because they live in PA

so core inflation is great taking out over 1000% increase in health care and over 100% increase in food and gas.
i read a report on childhood obesity today. the avg 18 yr old now weighs about 25 lbs more than they did in 1900.
25% of children r obese.
maybe the high food costs r not so bad.
66% of americans r overweight.
