Market Ramblings, etc.

Major averages held the gains, closing for a second day over the key 50 DMA level. Volume declined. Real buyers seem to be lurking lower to scoop up stock on dips. Trader "flipper" stock [aka from the virtual buyers] was bought yesterday. Nearby resistance is the gap around 1445-50 (there is one on futures) and then the recent high at 1461, basis S&P 500 cash.

Corn rallied as the large increase in acreage seemed more unlikely to get planted due to weather & operational problems. Copper keeps moving up - not a sign of economic weakness. Gold & silver broke out up [I fouled that recent trade up :-( ]. Cocoa moved up nicely :-)

Alpha Fund holding BTU [big coal] made a big move on volume, closing over a recent downtrend line. VLO was strong, too, breaking up on higher volume out of a small consolidation pattern. [It's an Alpha Fund large holding] If gasoline stockpiles in storage don't start moving up strongly, prices will be very high all summer & could explode on hurricane problems. Looks like VLO to challenge its all time high around 70; its chart shows a double bottom on the weekly chart. VLO is trading at an idiotic PE of 8x.

PS: 2:54 PM EDT - Erin's segment on Bubblevision on Saharan dust affecting Atlantic ocean temperatutures, and hence hurricanes was really interesting. I've got to monitor that. It made lots of sense. No global warming computer model crap - real data and measurements. [I made this as a comment, but decided to put it into my post as a "PS" - it might be really important.

took home 1k SNDK last nite and around 4pm i noticed it started ticking up. took a short nap, got ready for soccer, looked at SNDK it was up about 80 cents off the MU #'s. u cant tell me there arent people who saw MU's #'s before the pr and bought SNDK. i hate that

if u didnt tive south park last nite, i bet they encore the new one from last nite at 930 or 10 pm tonite. last nite was epic. it was about easter and the catholic church. im a recovering catholic, so i love those episodes, where they just burn the catholic church. the matrix reference at the end had me on the floor.

finally jim rome's burn on kieth richards, yesterday was hysterical. he was wondering out loud if people like nancy sintara put some of frank into her crack and smoked it up. frankly, that cud the wierdest/funniest thing ive ever heard. snorting your dad. and he was 58 yrs old at the time.

funny he is alive doing all these illegal drugs, and 39 yr old anna nicole taking a dirt nap because of legal medications perscribed by a doctor. WHAT A WORLD. lol

I made South Park a priority Tivo with a season pass. But I need to space out watching it. I don't want to burn out.

I'm watching Sky the puppy rip to shreds a rolled up magazine.

And attack a toy beehive.

I have to keep him from destroying my tax files.

It's tough to find a dog just like one you lost. Getting a similar breed does seems to work OK, as our rescue rat terrier is a lot like our old dog Jenny we lost in January.

Check out the rescue groups. They have dogs that might not make the pound. Usually puppies go fast at pounds, at least here. We had good luck with adult dogs at the pound, though. My old dog, Pluto, who died in 2002 came from the pound. She was a really good friend. It's good we adopted her as she was doomed as a biter. She was a great pet.

So we got Krypto as a puppy soon after we lost her - and now at age 4, Krypto is a lot lile Pluto in personality.
