Iran, etc. Worries

More deja vu all over again ;-) Yogi Berra was right.

Iran kidnaps some British sailors. And now the rumors fly about shooting in the Gulf. Reminiscent of the first Iranian kidnapping of the Carter era. And possible shells flying in the Gulf reminds me that a similar heavy shooting occurred in the week prior to the Crash in 1987 (Reagan shelled an Iranian oil platform in retaliation for something).

And reading the Tuesday WSJ re ultra loose corporate debt terms reminded me of the greater fool theory deals of the late 1980s, too. And the talk in the article about no one doing fundies on that debt, just looking at everyone else was troubling, too. The fine book, "The Wisdom of Crowds" showed how that is a source of bubbles.

All this is very troubling. I wonder if a correlation of forces is setting us up for something. Or not. History often doesn't really repeat, it makes us think it will, then throws us a curve.

Maybe I should post some survival tips for a nuclear attack. ;-) hehe, I've been promising to do that.

Wow Bunkerman. Weren't you the one who told me to be more "skeptical" of what I read in the press. You are sure the Brits were not in Iranian waters? In Iran they are 1000% convinced the US/UK is going to attack them. Maybe the Brits were spying/planning the attack. And if that is the case...they should just let these so called "sailors" do their work? What would we do if we saw a dozen Iranian "sailors" of the coast of Florida?

P.S. Don't tell me our military command never lies. Really? Ask Pat Tillman's parents. What a disgrace. Up and down the chain of command, all the officers lied about his death. Outrageous!!! Same with Jessica Lynch. They lied repeatedly to the American public.

Well, it's a very dangerous game the Iranians are playing either way. Threaten to nuke neighbors. Then try to build nukes. Then take sailors & threaten show trials. Hmmm. Not exactly indicating peaceful coexistence. Spare me the US threat bs. If the US wanted to destroy Iran, it could in 30 minutes. It hasn't despite numerous provocations for over 25 years. It seems as if the Iranian gov't WANTS to escalate. I wonder why. Some think domestic politics in Iran. Maybe. I'm very skeptical of BOTH governments.

I don't see how the Iranian gov't actions are consistent with being "1000%" convinced that attacks on them are being planned. IF that was true, why grab these sailors no matter where they were? That could be spun as a provocation & justify an attack, IF one was being planned. The Nazis spun a false tale that was similar to justify their attack on Poland in 1939. So the Iranian gov't actions just don't fit that idea. Unless the Iranian gov't wants a crisis for domestic political gain. That fits.
